The corkscrewis made out of a round section of steelwhich is better than rectangular sections since it avoids the sharp angles and therefore givesa nicer design and more strength between the start of the corkscrew and the first spiral. It also has a cone-shaped spiral, this innovation of the corkscrew allows a better movement into the cork, the spiral enters gradually and easily to avoid breaking the cork.

Laguiole originated in the 1920s in the village of the same name; a small mountain settlement of the Aveyron in Southwestern France. Inspired by the Hispanic Navaja and their local knife, the Capouchadou, they created Laguiole Knives.
